Dave Tait's Personal File
It's all about me !!

David Cameron Tait

That's me and the family in all our glory !! I was born on June 14th 1963 in Aberdeen on the NE coast of Scotland. I have been to married to Heather for nearly 10 years. - Wow ! Thats a long time :-) As you can see have 2 children.Ashleigh who was 7 in May and Kirsten who will be 5 in December. We live in Aberdeen in the Bridge of Don area.

I am interested in hillwalking. I wouldn't class myself as a Munro-bagger but I have climbed up a fair few of them. The hillwalking has taken a bit of a back seat since the kids were born though. I like Formula 1 racing and although my favorite driver, David Coulthard, is struggling this year against McLaren team mate Mika Hakkenin for the world championship I hope he can come out on top. They certainly have the best car on the grid this year. Here's the current position for the 1998 FIA title.

I also am a closet cartoon fan :-) I love the Cartoon Network - the kids just think I watch it becasue they are :-) Favourite cartoon characters must be Tom & Jerry even after watching them 100's of times its still funny. I also never tire watching the Disney cartoon movies and really enjoyed Toy Story and Herclues when I took Ashleigh to see it.The kids have some links to cartoon sites on their page. Best new cartoon on the network just now must be Cow & Chicken.

Well when you work with them they have to be a hobby as well don't they - after all you have a head start :-) At home I have a P120 PC, 48Mb RAM, around 3Gb of HD space, a 16x CD-ROM, AWE 32 SoundBlaster and of course a 28.8 modem. I started out in the world of comms just a few years ago by beginning to use Bulletin Boards. As time went on I started to post messages on the BBS echomail network the FidoNet. From there I was eventually been lured onto the Net mainly by the lure of fast email and the Web and here I am :-)

I also enjoy to play the odd computer game.Favorites include Doom , Duke3d, Quake or the new Rally, F1 GP2 games. I don't get much time to play games so I'm not really expert at any, as I've found to my cost sometimes when playing Deathmatch games :-)

Everyone uses the computer in our house and its sometime a 3 way battle to get to the keyboard first. Its funny actually how kids suddenly want to plat on the PC just as I have sat down to do something...but its tough......I was here first.....he...he...he :-)

I work as a Senior Systems Engineer for Siemens Nixdorf Information Systems. In fact there's been a 10 year anniversary at work too and I attended a presentation lunch to mark the occasion. SNI are a German computer manufacturer and service company. We are the IT company within the Siemens group.

My job involves travelling around the North & East of Scotland carrying out hardware repairs to the various type of computer systems and perpherials my company supports. This includes mainly our own products but more so these days TPM products as well. Anything goes really and because of my location, geographically, I have to support everything from PC's to EPOS at one end to larger UNIX and mini's at the other.

Some of the companies whose computers Siemens Nixdorf supply and maintain include Tesco , Midland Bank, Employment Services, DSS, Superdrug, Dixons, C&A and Nationwide Building Society

Although the Boys' Brigade was officially formed on 4th October 1883 but I have only been a part of it since about 1970 :-). I went to the Junior and Company sections as a boy then drifted away from it while at college. I went back as an officer after a chance meeting in 1990 and have been fully involved ever since. I am a Lieutenant with the 44th Aberdeen Company based at Mannofield Church. We also have a home page on the Web which you can also visit to find out more about our Company, if you havn't been to it already.

............Well there you are, now you know all there is to know.........
