5 -14 Level A- Uses of IT in Society

In this section, we will look at how Information Technology in the HOME can be used by YOU. The are pieces of equipment which you and you family might use from day to day:-

We will look at the following devices in the home:-

• RADIO
• TELEVISION
• TELEPHONE
• VIDEO

RADIO

As well as allowing you listen to MUSIC, the radio also provides you with INFORMATION such as NEWS STORIES, WEATHER REPORTS, EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS and BUSINESS NEWS.

TELEVISION

A lot of your time is spent watching the television. As well as FILMS and CHILDREN's PROGRAMMES, you can get a lot of information about the NEWS, WEATHER DETAILS, NATURE, COMPUTERS and SCHOOLS TELEVISION PROGRAMMES.

TELEPHONE

The TELEPHONE allows you to communicate with other people, and they can also communicate with you.
As well as this, you can use the telephone to find out information such as TRAIN and PLANE times, the exact TIME, WEATHER REPORTS and many other things.

VIDEO RECORDER

A video recorder can be used to watch FILMS. It can also be a way of providing you with useful information from pre-recorded tapes. NATURE, SPORTS, SCHOOL PROGRAMMES, and videos which TEACH you about HISTORY, COMPUTERS and SCIENCE.
