It is computer software or programs which allow us to do different tasks on the computer. Here is a quick run through some of the most popular types of software.....
Word processing - type letters, newsletters, reports and stories then print them out. You can have different colours, styles and sizes of text.
Database - an electronic filing system. Great for address lists, telephone numbers and inventories.
Spreadsheet - like an electronic ledger book and can be used for a variety of tasks from tracking you bank balance to working out expense claims.
Graphics - used for creating and editing pictures or drawings.
Browser Software - allows you to surf the Internet (if you have access to it it) - the most common browser programs are Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator.
Learning Aids - there are many programs available to help your child learn school subjects. Titles range from Algebra to Zoology.
