. Here are two Hotkeys which are not to the best of my knowledge in the Geofox literature:

Ctrl+System
will show the task list *from any view in any application* - which means that one does not need to have the toolbar visible for that purpose.
Shift+System will take you to the system screen - this is VERY useful for anyone using Purple Navigator who has set the System button to return to Navigator.

On the subject of Navigator
,

the file management commands in the System screen contain two bugs: if you try to copy or delete an open file (maybe it was in a sub-folder) it results in a soft reset, and if you try the same on a read only file, it will not allow you to. Since so much shareware has read only files, the latter is a real nuisance if one is uninstalling.
Navigator has neither of these problems: it offers the opportunity to switch to open files mid-operation, close them and then continue, and it prompts for confirmation before performing an operation on a read only file.

If you lose the connection between you PC and your Fox, and have information you need to transfer, with the new Message Suite you can always email it to yourself as an attachment! It works fine with screenshots and graphics..... a Word file needs to be pasted into the email or sent as text, otherwise I'm not sure that you can open the file on the PC!

Converting Agenda files into Text

I find it very useful to be able to take my Agenda files into Word for editing before printing. Printing straight from Agenda results in a truly tiny font size, and does not print the content of an embedded object.....

So if you want to do the same, then

Make a folder AgenPrint in C:\ Documents

a) press Cntrl+P and select the entries you want -
b) press Cntrl+P again or press the "Printer" button.
c) cycle through the choices until you find General to file

agp1.bmp (614454 bytes)

d) now click the settings button, and name the new file, and send it to your newly made AgenPrint folder

agp4.bmp (614454 bytes)

e) click OK and OK, and now print.

f) now go into the Word document you are using

e) Go into Menu - More - Import text file

f) find your new folder, and import the Agenda file

agp3.bmp (614454 bytes)

Now you can work on the information before you print it. You can copy and paste information from embedded Word files in your Agenda.... you can copy and paste information from Data files..... you can alter the fonts and point size.... you can take the whole document onto your PC and add illustrations, colour etc. Then you can print out your Agenda file in the final form which best suits you.

Organising Your Extras Bars

It is possible to arrange the Icons on your Extras bars to suit yourself.

Press the Extra button below the glide pad

Use the mouse to click the dark bar on the extreme left

A dialogue box  pops up which will let you move the icons around  ( the Icon position is a little confusing until you realise that it has been designed for the Psion 5. You need to locate the icons by using the Preferred program 1 to guide you. You will find there are 4 tiers to the Extras bars)

Unfortunately it is not possible to "fix" the icons - so you will find that the order is lost when you have to do a Soft Reset!
