Psion Dacom extends European Leadership September 14, 1998 - Psion Dacom PLC - UK Psion Dacom has increased its lead as Europe's foremost manufacturer of PC Card modem products. According to new figures from Dataquest, Psion Dacom extended its market leading position for PC Card modems shipments in Europe to 16% during 1997. The latest figures represent the third year in succession that Psion Dacom has held the number one position in the European market. The Dataquest survey, entitled Analog Modems - Europe 1997, gives details of PC Card sales throughout Europe for January to December 1997. Gareth Hughes, Psion Dacom's managing director, claims that the company's continued success is due to a significantly improved product range. This, he says, has resulted in a better choice of products for customers: "In 1997 we launched the Gold Card Global which brought wide PTT approvals and a modular approach to the market. For the first time users were able to upgrade their modems to GSM and ISDN. "We've listened to what our customers and channel partners and given
them what they want - good quality, flexible and reliable products. By doing that, and by
strengthening our international presence, we've stayed number one for three years
running". To read the full story visit http://5alive.psionking.com/

The new Psion Message Suite v1.5 needs a "patch" to run on the Geofox-One.
Main features of Message Suite v1.5:
EPOC 32 EMULATOR
In August Symbian released their EPOC 32 Emulator as a free download from their website, and many Geofox owners must have cheered. I certainly did, thinking that it would allow me to access and edit my Data and Agenda files on the PC. But unfortunately the Emulator did not have the necessary files onboard for us to make use of it! So when the copyright dispute between Symbian and STNC Ltd led to the removal of the Emulator from the Symbian website, and the call went out to destroy all existing copies, it was perhaps not such a blow ! Palmtop magazine have had
to remove it from their latest CD of freeware and shareware, and it seems
to have left software development in a legal limbo..........
